Soapstone Colors
Soapstone is one of the most unusual stones used in the commercial market today. Its name comes from its “soapy” feeling. It is usually found in shades of green and has little variation to it. Soapstone is soft and carveable.
Because of the stone’s resistance to acid, it has been most commonly seen as a countertop in laboratories. It is now one of the hottest trends in kitchens because of the worn and aged look it develops. The stone also absorbs and releases heat evenly; making it an excellent choice for fireplace surrounds.
Material note:
In order to keep the stone looking dark, and not washing out, it is recommended that countertops be treated with mineral oil every six months.
